Liam Hogan played 60 minutes as Latics B beat a Tranmere Rovers XI 2-1 this afternoon.
Luke Burgess put Latics ahead after a few minutes, his cheeky lob beat the Tranmere keeper from a tight angle.
Rovers equalised moments later, before Burgess got on the end of a Junior Luamba cross with ten minutes to go, to win the game for Latics.
B team manager, Francis Jeffers, was happy to see a number of players get minutes under their belt.
“The most important thing was the lads getting minutes out on the pitch, especially for people like Hogan who are coming back from injury, the result and performance is a bonus really.
“It’s crucial for people like Hogan because he’s been out for a while, so it was great for him to get 60 minutes in his first game back.
“It’s a great opportunity for the young lads to gain experience against some senior pros, including players like Oli (Kilner) who’ve impressed in training.”
Latics B: Leutwiler, Windass, Hogan (Cookson, 63), Kilner, Francis-Angol, Atkinson, Burgess, Vaughan, Couto, Luamba, Carty.
