Striker McGlynn Signs On Loan

8 September 2022

Oldham Athletic are pleased to announce the loan signing of Joe McGlynn from Burnley.

The 19-year-old striker joins on a deal until 9 October.

Manager John Sheridan had high praise for the youngster, and thinks he’ll do well during his time at Boundary Park.

“Joe is a player we’ve had interest in for a while and we’re pleased to finally get this deal over the line.

“He comes from Burnley’s academy who’ve always produced a great calibre of player, and we think he’ll do well for us.”

Joe’s a product of the youth setup at Burnley, and has been a regular for their youth teams over the past few years."

He was part of the side that made it to the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup in 2019/20, before being beaten by Manchester City U18s.

The following season he was a regular in The Clarets’ U23s and U18s sides, scoring four goals in eleven matches for the under 18s.

McGlynn, who’s a childhood friend of young Latic Will Sutton, became a regular for the under 23s in Premier League 2 last season, scoring five goals in 21 appearances, in addition to making the bench on a handful of occasions.

Joe’s squad number will be confirmed in due course, and a video interview will follow shortly.

You can sponsor Joe for the current season, with home and away packages on offer. For more details, email commercial@oldhamathletic.co.uk.
