Mental Health Football

6 April 2023

As part of this tomorrow’s matchday, we will be highlighting the importance of mental health and raising awareness of self-care.

We are therefore very pleased to welcome participants from Mental Health Football to Boundary Park.

MHF was founded in 2019 by AFC Oldham Men’s First Team Managers, Ross Elliott and Andy Steel, and is an initiative which aims to help improve mental health using physical activity and peer support, in a friendly, easy-going atmosphere.

The scheme went on to win ‘Initiative of the Year Award’ at the Oldham Sports Awards, followed by the runners-up spot at the North West Sports Awards.

In August 2021, Manchester FA announced MHF as their ‘Grassroots Project of The Year Award’ winners.

Mental Health Football is held every Friday at the Hathershaw College, Bellfield Avenue, Oldham OL8 3EP.

There are two sessions available, for women (6pm - 7pm in the indoor gym) and men (7pm - 8pm on the outdoor 3G pitch). Newcomers are always welcome.
