On Saturday, chairman Frank Rothwell received a presentation of memorabilia from the club’s Glory Years from three lifelong Latics fans.
John McGrath, Gary Turner and Tony Langan were in the Broadway Suite to give Frank a surprise presentation following the game against Maidenhead.
The gifts consisted of three boards documenting the club’s achievements under Joe Royle, with the memorabilia covering eight seasons from 1989/90.
“We wanted to do something to say thank you to Frank and Judith for all they have done for the club over the last year,” said John, who was a Director at Bovis during their sponsorship of the club.
“Tony digitised the items and we worked together to be able to give Frank something special from the club’s past to recognise how grateful we are.
“Frank and Judith were thrilled with it and the boards will be put up at the club for supporters to see them.”
Ahead of the game, Frank was also presented with a shirt from the late 1950s by Mark Phoenix, the son of the later Peter Phoenix, who played over 160 times for Latics after joining in 1957.
