Bank Holiday Cricket At Boundary Park!

30 April 2023

Chairman Frank Rothwell is leading an initiative that will see a triangular cricket tournament with representatives from three nations taking place Boundary Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

Supported by Oldham Council, Frank is delighted to confirm that Bangladesh, Pakistan and England will compete in a unique afternoon for the local community at the home of Oldham Athletic.

Starting at 1pm, the event is free to attend, but spectators are encouraged to reserve tickets in advance to aid the club in organising the event.

Tickets can be reserved by clicking here.

The Joe Royle and Jimmy Frizzell Stands will be open, with free car parking being available on the Joe Royle Stand car park.

The match is expected to be an epic showdown with local residents representing the three and is a significant event in the club’s work to engage further with the community after the takeover by the Rothwell family last year.

Each game will consist of ten overs, lasting around two hours each.

England will take on Bangladesh in the first game at 1pm, before Pakistan play Bangladesh in the second match at 3pm, with the final contest being between England and Pakistan at 5pm.

It’s an unmissable event for cricket lovers of all ages and backgrounds.

England international, Saqib Mahmood, has agreed to present the prizes and awards to the winners, whilst local cricket legend, John Abrahams, will be in attendance to support the event.

Food, drink, and ice cream will be available to purchase from stalls around the ground, and we’d like to thank Grandpa Greenes for supplying the ice cream, and The Grill on Featherstall Road North for providing the food.

"We believe that sport is a powerful way to bring people together, and this event is an opportunity to do just that," Frank said.

“We hope to see people from all communities of Oldham at the game, enjoying themselves on a nice day out.”
