Latics Partner With Dr Kershaw's Hospice

7 August 2023

Throughout the 2023/24 season, the club will be hosting numerous charity spotlights in partnership with Oldham Athletic Community Trust.

This Saturday against Aldershot, we start with Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, which provides free, specialist palliative and end-of-life care for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Oldham and surrounding areas.

Dr Kershaw’s Kicks

As part of the Charity Spotlight at Boundary Park, Dr Kershaw’s are pleased to announce the launch of their brand new community initiative Dr Kershaw’s Kicks.

Offering all children the opportunity to go to school with adequate footwear and the ability to participate in sports and social activities. We will be launching Dr Kershaw’s Kicks on Monday 14 August.

Dr Kershaw’s needs your help! They are looking for donations of second-hand school shoes, dance shoes, football boots and any other children’s footwear. If you can donate these items, there will be a drop of point at the Athletic Store for the whole of August!

Mike McArdle, Furniture Hub Manager, said “As a parent myself, I know how expensive it can be to purchase school or sports shoes. It's not just the cost though, the rate at which kids grow can mean that a pair bought one week may not fit the next!

“We decided to open Dr Kershaws Kicks to make sure that every child has the opportunity to participate in learning and in physical activity.

“Our shoes are all priced at less than £5 a pair, that being said, we understand that with the current cost of living crisis there are families that need access to free shoes. We can certainly help with that. We are happy to receive referrals from community support members and will be looking at starting a pay it forward scheme.

“If you are able to donate your children’s outgrown school and sports shoes please drop them at Oldham Athletics Club Shop!”

Your donations could help towards the development of another child’s future success.
