Yarney Extends Stay At Latics

2 February 2023

Oldham Athletic are delighted to announce that Josef Yarney has agreed an extension to remain at the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 25-year-old joined Latics on a short-term deal at the start of January, having previously played for Morecambe and Chesterfield.

"I'm happy to get the deal done, as I've really enjoyed my time here over the last month," he said.

"We've got a couple of good results in the league, so hopefully we can carry that on."

"It's a hard league to deal with, but we've got a good set of lads in the changing room, there's a good atmosphere, and everyone's working really hard."

Praised for his aerial dominance and ability to retain control of the ball under pressure, Josef has played a part in all four fixtures since he signed.

A former Everton and Newcastle youngster, he made his Latics debut as a substitute in the 5-1 away win at Dorking Wanderers.

He played the full 90 minutes of both the York City and Aldershot Town games, scoring the opener in the former with a goal late in the first-half.

Congratulations, Josef!
