6’4” Inih Effiong opened the scoring with a sweet curling shot just before the half-hour mark.
Immediately after the second-half started, the ball fell to Mike Fondop 25 yards outside the box, before he hit it on the half-volley, beating Ashby-Hammond with ease.
Aldershot were awarded a penalty, but Norman made easy work of saving Effiong’s effort from the spot.
Both sides looked to find a winner as the game came to a close, but both goalkeepers did well to keep the score level.

Ben Tollitt cut in from the left and looked for the far corner, but Ashby-Hammond dived and caught his shot.
Aldershot went ahead, perhaps a tad against the run of play, when Effiong found the far corner via the post.

Tollitt whipped in a wide free-kick, which Liam Hogan found with his head, which Ashby-Hammond remarkably managed to save.
Rooney and Fondop were on the same wavelength as they made a series of one-two to move into the box, but Mike’s shot was blocked by the Aldershot defence.
Nuttall could have won it at the end, Tollitt’s low driven cross found Joe, but he notched it wide of the post.
Latics left The Rec with a point.
