Latics vs. Woking

7 March 2023

Latics are looking to bounce back from defeat at Boreham Wood when they welcome Woking to Boundary Park.

David Unsworth’s men were unable to make it three consecutive wins at the weekend.

The opposition

Oldham know that it will be another potentially tricky tie against Woking, who currently sit up in 3rd in the National League table.

They have been at this level in the English football pyramid since they were promoted from the National League South in the 2018/19 season via the playoffs.

This was a promotion at the first time of asking following relegation the season prior.

This is looking like being by far their most impressive season since coming back up, they have finished 20th, 20th and 15th in the past three campaigns.

Form guide

The visitors are displaying solid form at present, showing why they are in with a chance of promotion to the Football League.

They have lost just one of their previous seven league games proving that they are a hard side to beat.

However, they will perhaps be looking to turn more draws into wins as three of the games in the aforementioned sequence have ended level.

The Cardinals’ last six

Yeovil Town 0-1 Woking

Woking 1-1 Wealdstone

Woking 2-1 Bromley

Altrincham 3-1 Woking

Wrexham 2-2 Woking

Woking 2-2 Boreham Wood

Watch out for

Woking will be without top scorer Rhys Browne who will complete his three game suspension when Woking travel to Boundary Park.

They will also be without another of their goal scoring threats. Reece Grego-Cox had scored nine goals in just 16 league games for the Cards but he has been missing through injury since early December.

Padraig Amond could be the man to help his side carry a threat.

With nine goals to his name this season from 36 appearances, the veteran forward could have a huge part to play for his side.

The Irish born player has plenty of football league experience to his name, most notably at Newport County where he made a name for himself in the FA Cup.

He scored his side’s winning goal as they pulled off a shock result against Premier League side Leicester City.

He also netted against Middlesborough in the next round as well as scoring against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City as County were eventually knocked out in the fifth round.
