Rochdale have provided the following update on the playing surface ahead of tomorrow’s fixture at Spotland.
As of Friday afternoon, the pitch is in a playable condition, despite today’s heavy rainfall, which is forecast to continue into the night.
We are hopeful that, as we saw on multiple occasions last season, the surface can withstand the rainfall and that it ends early enough, as is forecast, for the pitch to be able to drain in good time for the game.
Rain covers are currently down on the worst affected areas of the pitch and staff will assess the surface in the morning, ahead of any potential inspection by match officials.
Both clubs are eager to give the match every opportunity to take place. We will update supporters as soon as possible on Saturday.
