A disappointing night for Latics as they fell to a 3-0 defeat away at AFC Fylde.
Fylde were on their game from the referee’s first whistle, and soon got their rewards, racing into a two goal lead in the first 15 minutes.
Ustabasi received possession of the ball inside the box, finding the bottom corner with a direct shot across the face of goal.
It went from bad to worse for Oldham just a few minutes later, Barrett’s cross was allowed to reach Kay on the edge of the box, who found the bottom corner with precision.
Athletic attempted to get back into the game, but were frustrated by Fylde, who were aggressive, clever, and pressed every time Latics had the ball.
Overturning the two goal deficit became a lot harder just before half-time when Hogan was sent off for a second yellow card - wrestling with Charman near the dugout and linesman.
Harrison McGahey came on to replace Hogan in defence, with Hallam Hope being sacrificed in attack.
Oldham needed to look like a different side coming out in the second-half if they were going to have any chance of getting something out of the game, and in fairness, for a brief period they looked to be doing so.
Latics had a good share of possession and were able to fire in a few crosses and corners, but nothing concrete came of any of the chances.
Fylde were able to get a grip on the game from there, and didn’t really look back.
Ustabasi - with a goal under his belt - caused Latics serious problems, and was a handful all evening, with Hudson forced into making a number of saves from his and his teammates’ shots.
Ben Tollitt came on to face his old side in place of Josh Lundstram, as Latics looked for a way back into the game.
As the clock ticked over into stoppage time, Ustabasi was rewarded for his attacking venom all game, as he doubled his tally for the evening with a thunderous shot from 30 yards out.
A night to forget for Oldham.
