VACANCY: Performance Analyst

Oldham Athletic has a new opportunity available for a Performance Analyst for the first team.

Job Summary:

Provide detailed pre/post and opposition match analysis for direct use by the manager and coaching staff.

This will include live matchday analysis support and collaborating with all other staff to ensure the highest possible standards of  performance analysis provision throughout the football club.

The ideal candidate will have an organised and calm approach to work, and be comfortable with the time-pressured demands of an elite environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead process of opposition analysis with specific tasks to help players and staff be best prepared.
  • Wherever necessary support insights with video, data, or tactical experiences.
  • Assist with set piece analysis, databasing and the researching of best practice for setpieces.
  • Set up and carry out an insightful and consistent post-match process reviewing games with the staff and creating presentations to show the players.
  • Ensure the Manager, coaching staff, support staff and players are supported with the appropriate resources to aid performance.
  • Distribute match footage in the most efficient and accessible form to allow players, coaches, and analysts to conduct analysis immediately following each first-team game.
  • Collate all resources into engaging and concise forms of presentation, according to delivery methods required by the coaching staff.
  • Attend all OAFC fixtures, home and away, to support the performance analysis provision.
  • Deliver an exceptionally high standard of work in a pressurised environment with tight deadlines.
  • Facilitate other matchday analysis workflows to aid and improve performance in the pre-match, half-time, and post-match meetings.
  • Understand game and performance models
  • Provide monthly and seasonal goal reports in relation to team and performance model.
  • Research Tactical trends.
  • Head up club recruitment analysis utilising StatsBomb, Wyscout and any other IT platforms.

Qualifications

• Educated in performance analysis or coaching at degree level minimum or equivalent experience.

• Hold UEFA ‘B’ coaching license.

Experience

• Experience of working in a analysis role within the First Team football environment at elite level.

• Experience working with event data to pull relevant information for our coaching staff and players (pre and post-match).

• Experience of supporting match day preparation including the timing and coding of First Team fixtures.

• Highly competent in software such as Hudl Sportscode /Studio / Wyscout & StatsBomb

• Experience of working within another professional sporting environment.

• Experience in the manipulation of performance data sets and visualisations e.g. python, tableau

Knowledge and Skills

An excellent understanding of

technical and tactical analysis of teams and individuals.

• Positive outlook and looks for solution when challenged.

• Excellent communication, both verbal and written, to convey ideas to coaches and players.

• A high level of football knowledge, with an ability to contextualise this knowledge and produce player facing material.
