Our second release of retro mugs are now available from Athletic Store!
Following on from the hugely successful release of our debut batch last year, the selection of mugs, all from the 1990s, proved popular with supporters.
Now, with 2024 well underway, we’ve released a second set for supporters to enjoy.
1991/93 Home Shirt
Worn as Latics played top-flight football for the first time in 68 years and then played their part in the maiden Premier League season.
It’s a kit with fond memories, most notably the ‘Great Escape’ at the conclusion of the 92/93 campaign, as Joe Royle’s side won their last three to secure survival.
1982/83 Away Shirt
One of the earlier away shirts in Latics’ beloved tangerine, it’s a throwback to the strip worn by players such as Paul Futcher and record goalscorer, Roger Palmer.
Adorned with the logo of former sponsors and owners, JW Lees, it’s a great way to mark what was the first sign Joe Royle had something up his sleeve for Athletic, as his side finished seventh in the Second Division.
2010/12 Third Shirt
Slightly different to some of the others on offer, the white strip was first worn by Latics as an away shirt in 2010/11, before becoming the third shirt in 2011/12.
It was in this kit that Shefki Kuqi scored his 40-yard volley against Rochdale at Spotland, beating David Lucas with a fine effort.
1992/94 Away Shirt
Worn by Latics during two of their three seasons in England top tier during the 90s, the red and white striped kit holds fond memories by those who witnessed Latics’ antics during that period.
Made in the style of an old school shirt, it’s been worn by some of the finest players to ever represent Oldham Athletic.
