On Friday, we paid a visit to Derian House Children’s Hospice to surprise Tommy The Warrior with a special award.
Tommy was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year, and has been supported by the club over recent months, including holding a bucket collection to support his family financially.
He's recently moved to Derian House to receive extra support for him and his family.
We welcomed him to our FA Trophy tie last month, where he walked onto the pitch with assistant manager, Gary Brabin, scoring a goal in front of the Rochdale Road End.
To recognise Tommy’s bravery, he’s been awarded the goal of the month for January, and received his certificate from a number of club representatives.
Harrison McGahey, Mark Shelton, Ethan Walker and Chaddy Owl were on hand to meet Tommy, greeting him as they arrived - surrounded by his friends and family.
“We’re just trying to have as many special days as we can,” said Tommy’s father, Dan Squibbs.
"Tommy had no idea they were coming so it was a huge surprise for him.
"He loved meeting Chaddy the Owl, and we can’t thank the club enough for everything they have done for us in the past few months.”
