Loan Watch 2023/24

3 January 2024

A number of Latics players are out on loan across different divisions as we enter the New Year.

Most are youngsters who continue to gain important experience lower down the pyramid, whilst two players have also returned to Boundary Park during the last month.

Kofi Moore - Guiseley

Kofi has been allowed to resume his loan at Guiseley, having previously been recalled to give Micky Mellon’s side an extra attacking option.

Making his second debut against Bradford (Park Avenue) on New Year's Day, he made a notable impact, helping them to a 1-0 victory.

Kofi earned plenty of praise for his performance, returning straight to the starting XI and completing the full game at Horsfall Stadium.

The 19-year-old has already made a good impression in West Yorkshire, following his earlier loan at Workington at the start of the campaign.

Guiseley are currently sat just outside the play-offs in the Northern Premier League, with games in hand on sides above them.

Benny Couto - Ashton United

The Robins’ push for the play-off places may have taken a hit with recent results, but Benny has remained a regular in Steve Cunningham’s side.

The 20-year-old has now made 20 appearances for the Hurst Cross outfit having established himself as a regular presence in the Ashton defence.

Benny started both the draw at Hyde United and the defeat against FC United of Manchester over the Christmas period.

Ben Tollitt - Kidderminster Harriers

Ben has made a number of appearances off the bench for the Harriers since joining at the start of November, playing a total of 241 minutes so far.

His most recent outing came just before Christmas, during a 2-1 defeat to Southend.

Ends of loans and injuries

Jake Forshaw and Frazer Cookson have returned from their loans at Guiseley and Northwich Victoria respectively, whilst Llyton Chapman has been out of action since the start of December with an injury.
