Last week, chairman Frank Rothwell shared his experiences from rowing across the Atlantic Ocean to raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Frank completed his incredible feat in February, becoming the oldest person to cross any ocean solo as he overcame the most challenging of conditions.
Frank gave a unique insight into his epic journey which took 64 days from San Sebastián de La Gomera to Nelson’s Dockyards, Antigua, despite capsizing four times.
He was on top form with the BBC’s Kevin Fitzpatrick working hard to keep him on track!
Frank was fabulous, inspiring and informative, generating lots of laughter throughout with some great questions in the Q&A.
The auction went amazingly well with a signed ball, Frank’s one-of-a-kind rowing shirt auctioned literally off his back, and bids for the Boardroom experience at a Latics fixture for next season coming down to a three-boat race, with Frank generously selling it to all three!
The pie supper was plentiful and went down a treat.
