Oldham Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of Kane Drummond from Chesterfield on loan until 5 January.

The 23-year-old started his career at Liverpool’s academy and after his release joined the Robbie Fowler Academy.

Whilst there he won The English Colleges Championship and Dubai International Super Cup .

“I’m delighted to sign, this is a challenge I’m really looking forward to and I can’t wait to get going,” he said.

“The move came about quite quickly, I spoke to the gaffer on Monday and was sold on the project here instantly.

“I want to play football, get minutes under my belt and help this team achieve success which it deserves.

“I’m really excited to work under Micky, his experience speaks volumes. I like the way he plays and I feel it suits my game really well.”

In the summer of 2019, Kane joined Warrington Rylands where he hit the ground running scoring 10 goals in the early period of the season.

In January 2020, it was announced he would be the first ever contracted player for Warrington Rylands when he signed his deal.

He continued in the same goalscoring vein in the 2021/22 season firing 18 goals as Rylands were promoted to the Northern Premier Divison. He was named Northern Premier League West Division player of the season, as well as being named in the divisional team of the year.

Macclesfield came calling for Kane’s services in November 2022, and he joined the club for an undisclosed fee. Drummond went on to win Division One West for the second consecutive season in 2022–23.

On 9 May 2024, Drummond joined newly promoted League Two club Chesterfield on a one-year deal, after rejecting a new contract from Macclesfield.

Manager Micky Mellon is delighted to acquire Kane’s services: “I’m delighted to get him, I wanted him in the summer, he’s a player I really like,” he said.

“We spoke to Chesterfield and they want him to get minutes and continue his development. Paul Cook is an old mate of mine so I’m thankful for their trust.

“I know the supporters will love the attributes he brings and we’ll look forward to using him and his qualities to help this club move forward.

“It’s a real positive signing, he can play in wide areas and he play up-front. He’s blessed with pace and work rate, the fans will love him so I’m delighted.”

Kane will wear the number 31 shirt.

Welcome to the club, Kane!
