David Best 1943-2025

Oldham Athletic is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former goalkeeper David Best, aged 82.

David played for Latics between 1966 and 1968, making 98 appearances in a blue shirt. A dependable and commanding presence between the posts, he arrived at Boundary Park from Bournemouth before earning a notable move to Ipswich Town in 1968.

His professional career spanned 16 years and more than 550 appearances, taking in spells with Boscombe Athletic, AFC Bournemouth, Portsmouth, and Dorchester.
