Rossiter Joins On Loan
First Team
10 January 25
Oldham Athletic are pleased to confirm the signing of Jordan Rossiter on loan from Shrewsbury Town until 2 June.
Born in Liverpool, the midfielder came through the youth academy at the Reds, representing them from U6 level all the way to their first team.
He joins with plenty of EFL experience for the likes of Bury, Fleetwood, Bristol Rovers and most recently Shrewsbury.
“I’m buzzing to be here, this is a club with huge ambitions and I want to be a part of helping the club to get where it should be,” he said.
“I’ve spoken with the manager and Brabs and they talked to me about where they want to me to play and fit in, it all sounds really exciting.
“Hopefully I can help the lads as much as I can, I like to break things up, win tackles and I’ll look to bring as much experience as I can to the group.
“The lads are doing well in the league and there’s some great players here so I can’t wait to get involved with the lads properly next week and get going”.

During the 2013/14 season Rossiter was in and around the first team set up at Liverpool but it was the following season when he made his first team debut in a League Cup game against Middlesborough.
In that game he scored in the 10th minute becoming Liverpool’s second ever youngest goal scorer. He went on to make five appearances for the club before a move to Rangers.
The Scottish outfit paid a £250,000 development fee for the midfielder but his time there sadly was succumbed to injury and he only managed 16 games in a three year spell at the club.
On deadline day in 2019, he joined Bury on loan until the end of the season and was instrumental in playing his part in helping the Shakers gain promotion. He made 17 appearances, scoring one goal.
Fleetwood then came calling for his services and he joined on a season long loan. He made 19 appearances and joined them permanently in 2020 signing a one-year deal.

In March 2021, he signed a two-year extension and was named club captain. However, in October he suffered an injury that ended his season.
The following summer Joey Barton, the manager that signed him at Fleetwood bought him for an undisclosed fee at Bristol Rovers.
He made 25 appearances for the Gas in a frustrating spell for the midfielder after he revealed a one-in-ten-thousand infection had him ruled out for 16 months.
Finally, after failing to agree a new deal with Bristol Rovers he joined Shrewsbury Town and has played 17 games this season.

Manager Micky Mellon is pleased to get the deal over the line: “I’m delighted to be able to welcome Jordan to the group, he’s a great lad who will bring a lot to the group,” he said.
“I like what he’s about as a player, he breaks up the play and isn’t afraid of a challenge, he’s the type of player who does the dirty work.
“He’s more of a defensive player and understands the game well, I’ve been looking for his type of player for a while but it’s about waiting for players like Jordan to become available.
“We’ve a few injuries at the moment so to be able to bring someone in with Jordan’s experience and pedigree is exciting.
“We know the type of players we’re after and I know the fans will love what he’ll bring to the team so it’s a real positive signing.”
Jordan will wear the number 15 shirt.
Welcome to the club, Jordan!
