First Team
20 January 25
Oldham Athletic are pleased to confirm the signing of Tom Pett on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The midfielder joins from Cheltenham Town after making 27 appearances this season for the Robins, scoring twice in the EFL Trophy.
Tom brings with him plenty of EFL experience for the likes of Stevenage, Port Vale , Lincoln City and most recently Cheltenham.
“I’m really happy to be here and get the deal done in time for tomorrow,” he said.
“Over the weekend there was some movement and when I was asked if I want to do it, I said yes straight away.
“Speaking to Tom (Conlon) he sold it to me, the project is a really exciting one with plenty of games coming up thick and fast.
“I want to be in a winning environment and hopefully my experience in gaining promotions can help the lads.
“I like organising on the pitch, I like both sides of the game attacking and defending. Tomorrow looks a good one on paper to get started, so I’m really excited to get going.”

His career began at Boreham Wood spending two months at academy level before moving to his hometown club of Potters Bar Town where he worked his way up to become club captain.
His stint lasted nine years from 2003 to 2012 when he joined Wealdstone. He helped the Stones to lift the Isthmian Premier Division title, scoring 18 goals along the way
After impressing in his 123 appearances he was offered a trial at League Two side Stevenage. Pett impressed and subsequently joined the club for an undisclosed fee.
In his first season, he helped Stevenage to the play-offs and became a fan favourite over his four years at the club.
In January 2018, Lincoln City came calling for Pett’s services and bought the midfielder for a significant undisclosed fee and he signed a two-and-a-half year deal.
He made 51 appearances in his first season helping the Imps to win the League Two title, but after a management change the following season he left the club in the summer of 2020.
After failing to find a club, he rejoined Stevenage in November until the end of the 2020-21 season and played 31 games helping the Boro to finish 14th in League Two.
The midfielder was offered a new deal by the club but turned it down to move back closer to home.

He signed a two-year-deal with Port Vale and was named club captain for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.
Injury in April looked to end his season but he managed to recover in time for Vale’s play-off final, starting as they beat Mansfield 3-0 to win promotion to League One.
After it was announced his contract would not be renewed after the summer of 2023, he joined Cheltenham Town where he has made 56 appearances before joining Latics.
Manager Micky Mellon said: “I’m glad we’ve been able to bring someone like Tom in as we head into a busy run of fixtures.
“His qualities are there to see, he has plenty of experience and we feel he can be a vital addition to us from now until the end of the season.
“We have a few knocks in the middle of the park, so for someone like Tom to come in and help us is massive.
“He’s very respected wherever he’s been, has excellent pedigree and brings a wealth of experience with him.
“He’s good going forward and defending, he’s the complete midfielder and I think he’ll compliment what we have in midfield.”
Tom will wear the number 4 shirt.
Welcome to the club, Tom!
