Youth Team Help Local Shoppers!
Academy
27 November 25
Our Youth Team players spent this afternoon supporting their local Tesco supermarket, taking part in a community initiative designed to help customers and strengthen the club’s commitment to helping in the local community.
The players spent an hour packing shopping bags, chatting with customers and offering friendly assistance to anyone who needed a hand.
The visit not only provided valuable support to shoppers but also gave the lads an important opportunity to experience the work people in the community do every day.
The initiative forms part of a series of ongoing projects aimed at keeping the players developing the right mindset and helping them grow as people as well as footballers.
Alongside their normal training schedule, the squad have recently heard from Micky Mellon and welcomed former professional Marc Pugh to speak about nutrition, healthy habits and the standards required to progress in the game.
Head of Academy Player Care, Dan Russell, praised the players for the way they represented the club.
“Today our youth team lads took part in a community visit to Tesco, showing great citizenship by helping customers with their shopping and supporting food bank donations.
"The players were outstanding throughout, and we received amazing feedback from customers about how polite, respectful, and mature they were.
"Experiences like this help them grow, building communication skills, empathy, and the life lessons that shape them into better people on and off the pitch.
“A huge thank you to Suzette and the team at Tesco for making it possible.”
The club is proud of the way the lads embraced the experience and the positive impact they made.
Community visits like this remain an important part of their development, ensuring they continue to learn off the pitch aswell as on it.
