MATCH PREVIEW: Bradford City vs. Oldham Athletic

17 October 2017

Oldham Athletic will travel to Bradford City this evening in a Sky Bet League One fixture.

Latics will be looking to make it five wins from five under the instruction of interim manager Richie Wellens.

Athletic have also won their last three games in Sky Bet League One and know a win against Bradford would move them further away from the relegation zone and up the table.

The home side will be aiming to improve on their defeat last game away to Bury.
The Bantams currently sit third in the table but lost ground on the top two on Saturday.

Oldham Athletic come off the back of a superb victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday following Queensy Menig’s late strike.

Whilst Bradford suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Bury, Wyke getting Bradford’s only goal.

Wellens had this to say ahead of tonight’s game: “In terms of away games in this league, this is probably the most difficult because the fans are right behind them, it’s a big crowd and they are a good team.

“This is a tough game and we are going to lose games. I just want a good performance.

“If we get beat tomorrow but we put in a good performance, I’ll still be happy because you can see things growing and getting better.

“Don’t get me wrong, if we play badly and nick a 1-0 win then I will take that but I just like consistency in our performances. That will make us climb the league.”

Latics may have Ryan Flynn and Paul Green available after injuries and Courtney Duffus is still unavailable due to illness. Ryan McLaughlin is also still out.

The teams last encounter resulted in a 1-2 victory for Bradford City at SportsDirect.com Park, with Romain Vincelot and Josh Cullen cancelling out Brian Wilson’s goal.

The home side are favourites to repeat last season’s victory, being priced at 8/11 to win tonight. Oldham Athletic are 18/5 to win the match with a  draw being priced at 14/5.

Charlie Wyke is favourite to make it two in two against Oldham, priced at 3/1 for first goal scorer, whilst in  form man Eoin Doyle is 7/1 to net first for the Latics.
