The 26-year-old joins Boundary Park bringing proven League Two experience to the squad, along with creativity, energy, and a strong attacking threat.

Hawkes came through Hartlepool United’s academy and broke into the first team during the 2016–17 campaign. Over four seasons at Pools, he racked up 61 league appearances and scored 12 goals, plus 13 in all competitions.

In September 2020, Hawkes signed for Sunderland on a two-year deal and made two appearances for the club, scoring his first goal in an EFL Cup tie against Port Vale on August 2021.

His time at Sunderland helped him gain valuable experience at a higher level and sharpen his skills.

In January 2022 he signed permanently for Tranmere Rovers, quickly becoming a key player. Across three-and-a-half seasons, he made 134 appearances netting 26 goals.

His most prolific campaign came during the 2022–23 season when he finished as Tranmere’s top scorer with 10 league goals and 11 overall, registering four assists as well.

In the most recent 2024–25 campaign, Hawkes added 2 league goals (4 in all competitions) across 23 league and 26 total outings.
