Anthony Gerrard committed his future to Oldham Athletic in January, signing a two-and-a-half year contract.

The experienced defender joined the club for his third spell in January and showed a statement of intent, signing a long-term deal with the club.

Gerrard started his professional career with Everton before moving on loan to Accrington Stanley.

After leaving Goodison Park, Gerrard joined Walsall and became a crowd favourite.

He made over 150 appearances for the Saddlers, scoring seven goals.

A move to Cardiff City followed in 2009 where he spent three years with the Bluebirds.

During that time, he did join Hull City on a season-long loan before joining Huddersfield Town in 2012.

Gerrard spent three years at the Terriers before joining Oldham Athletic for the first time at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Following his release from Huddersfield, he joined Shrewsbury Town, but after 15 appearances, he rejoined Athletic to help keep the club in Sky Bet League One under John Sheridan.

Whilst his contract ended at the end of the 2015/16 season, Gerrard continued to train with the club until January where he signed a permanent contract, this time on a two-and-a-half year deal.

He formed a formidable partnership with captain Peter Clarke and helped guide the club to safety once again.

Gerrard will be looking to continue his form into the new season.
