McAleny joined Latics on a one-year deal in August 2020.
The 28-year old’s previous club is Fleetwood Town but he has also had loan spells with Kilnmarnock and Shrewsbury Town prior to his move to Boundary Park.
McAleny was a product of the Everton youth academy and went on to play twice for the Toffees in the Premier League.
During his time contracted to Everton, McAleny had loan spells with Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United.
The playmaker made a fantastic start to his Oldham career, bagging the third goal in a 3-0 win over Carlisle United on his debut.
