Oldham Athletic completed the signing of Jamie Bowden on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly-rated midfielder joins Keith Curle’s squad ahead of the new season, becoming the eighth new face to the playing squad this summer.

A Spurs player from the age of six, he has gained experience at a number of different levels and competitions over the years, making his senior debut in a friendly at Girona in August 2018. From there he’s been in and around the first-team environment at Tottenham ever since, notably playing for the club in the EFL Trophy in particular.

He has also represented England and Republic of Ireland’s youth teams at U16 and U19 level respectively, alongside captaining Spurs’ Development Squad in the 2019/20 campaign scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 home win over Liverpool in Premier League 2 under the stewardship of Ryan Mason.

Selected as ‘Midfielder of the Tournament’ at an U17 competition in Italy in the Easter of 2018, this individual accolade was given as his side beat a host of top-level European youth sides.

After a spell out with injury for the first-half of last season, Bowden has impressed and made the step up to U23 level comfortably before embarking on the next stage of his career which will now be with Latics for the 2021/22 season in League Two.

Traditionally a deep-lying central midfielder, he can play further forward and with his confidence on and off the pitch, the youngster has a keen eye for a pass in transitions as well as shooting on sight when given the chance.
