A versatile defensive player, Threlkeld can operate as a holding midfield player and at right-back but is also comfortable in the centre of the defence. He arrived at Boundary Park on a deal until until 2 January.
The 28-year-old has spent the last campaign at Valley Parade, prior to which he played for two seasons at Salford City, both in Sky Bet League Two.
Hailing from Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, the 28-year-old started his career with Bolton Wanderers and made a handful of appearances in the Championship, before joining Plymouth Argyle on loan.
That loan move was made permanent the following season, and he was part of the side that won promotion to League One in 2016/17.
After completing a season in the third tier with yhe Pilgrims, he joined Belgian side Waasland-Beveren but soon returned to Home Park on loan.
Threlkeld then joined Salford on a two-year contract, winning the delayed EFL Trophy final in 2021, and helping the club to register finishes of eighth and 11th in League Two before joining current side Bradford last June.
