Wilson joins Latics having been Macclesfield Town’s top goal scorer for the past two seasons.
Last season, Wilson scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
In the 2017/18 season the striker chalked up 14 goals and played a major part of the squad that led the Silkmen to promotion into the Football League.
The 27-year-old netted the winner against Latics in a 2-1 defeat at Moss Rose in January 2018.
He then joined National League outfit Notts County on loan at the end of February for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
In total before his loan spell, Wilson made 26 appearances for Latics, scoring twice.
