Zak Mills signed a one-year deal with Latics in June 2019.
The 27-year-old featured 38 times in League Two last season for Morecambe and played against Latics twice.
Mills began his career at Histon FC, where he made 116 appearances and scored 5 goals in a four-year period. He then spent two years with Boston United and was a vital part of their defence.
In 2016, the right-back got a move to the Football League with Grimsby Town. Mills had two campaigns with The Mariners, and he made 58 appearances for the club.
Last season, the full-back had an impressive League Two campaign at Morecambe, winning three player of the year awards at The Globe Arena.
