Nuttall began his career in the academy at Manchester City, where he spent two years after joining at the age of 16.

He then moved to Scotland with Aberdeen, initially as a youth team player before making his professional debut in 2016. He had loans at Stranraer, where he scored twice, and Dumbarton, before returning to England with Blackburn.

Nuttall spent two seasons at Ewood Park, scoring 14 goals in 15 appearances in PL2, earning him a call-up to the first team squad.

His exploits in front of goal saw him shortlisted for the PL2 Player of the Season in 2018 whilst also making 13 senior appearances.

The following season he scored twice in ten games for the Rovers first team as they earned promotion to the Championship.

He moved to Blackpool for an undisclosed fee at the start of the 2019/20 season, spending time on loan at Northampton, before a move to Scunthorpe at the start of the current calendar year, scoring 11 goals in total.
