Oldham Athletic signed experience midfielder Paul Green from Rotherham United on a one-year contract in 2016.

Green started his career with Doncaster Rovers and helped guide them from the Conference to the Championship in just seven years.

It was a wrench to leave Rovers but he joined Derby County in 2008 in the Championship.

The midfielder had four successful seasons at Pride Park as he played just under 150 times, scoring 13 goals in all competitions.

A move to Leeds United followed and he made 50 appearances in a two year spell.

During his time at Elland Road, he made 15 appearances for Ipswich Town in a three-month loan spell.

He was released by Leeds at the end of the 2013/14 season but he was signed by Steve Evans at Rotherham United following their promotion to the Championship.

After two years in South Yorkshire, and after amounting over 500 appearances, Green joined Latics.

He made 47 appearances for Athletic in the 2016/17 season and netted one goal, a penalty against Peterborough United.

At the end of the season, Green was offered a further one-year deal.
