Alfie Hughes first fell in love with football in 2016 when he travelled with his dad to watch Liverpool play Borussia Dortmund. His first kit was a Liverpool strip, and growing up he looked up to Steven Gerrard.

He started out at Manchester United’s development programme before moving to Burnley at 11, where he stayed until he was 16. Now at Oldham Athletic, Alfie is excited to start the next chapter of his career.

Alfie enjoys attacking play and crossing, helping create chances for his teammates. He still remembers scoring on his debut for Burnley against Bolton. From his time in the academy, he has learned to stay strong, keep grounded, and focus on his own journey, no matter what.
