Leake Joins On Loan
First Team
17 January 25
Oldham Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of Jake Leake on a season-long-loan.
The left sided full-back who can also play in the centre joins from Hull City after spending time at Tranmere last season playing in the early part of the campaign.
He is a part of the Hull U21 side that competes in the Premier League Cup, last playing on 7 January against Coventry U21.
On joining the club Leake said: It feels great to be here, it’s been in the works for a little while now so I’m pleased to get it done and dusted,” he added.
“At the start of the season I heard a few things, but recently this week I got the call and it’s an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
“I know a few of the lads, the training and principles in place are top notch, when I spoke to the manager he spoke very highly of where he wants to take the club and i want to be involved in that.
“I’m hard working, I like to defend as much as I like to attack, I take pride in both but driving with the ball I feel is an area I can help the side.
“I can’t wait to get going, I’ve heard good things about the atmosphere and how the fans are, so it’s about giving 100 percent now in every game.”

Jake joins after learning his trade from National League South level up to League Two with Tranmere.
In 2021 he joined Boston United on loan making eight appearances helping them to finish in the play-off positions where they lost in the final to York 2-0.
Scunthorpe followed for Jake, he signed on loan in February 2023 for the remainder of the campaign. He made 16 appearances for the Iron, scoring one goal.
Most recently he joined League Two side Tranmere on loan at the start of this campaign where he made six appearances before returning to Hull, playing for their U21s side before the move to Boundary Park.
On Jake’s arrival manager Micky Mellon said: “Jake’s a top lad who knows a few of the lads very well and has great attributes he can bring,” he said.
“He’s got great height and power and has played at the level before so he can help in lots of ways.
“With the run of games coming up, we need a good core of players and Jake comes in now at the perfect time to help us going forward.
“He is great with the ball and a real asset when driving forward at teams and I feel the way we play will compliment his game well.
Jake will wear the number 34 shirt.
Welcome to the club, Jake
