Oldham Athletic are pleased to confirm the signing of Kane Drummond on a one-year-deal, with an option, following the expiry of his contract with Chesterfield on 1 July.

The 24-year-old becomes the club’s latest summer addition as preparations continue for the return to League Two.

Known for his explosive pace and direct style , Drummond arrives at Boundary Park with a growing reputation as an exciting and dynamic attacking player.

A product of the Liverpool academy system in his early years, Drummond developed further in non-league football with stints at Warrington Ryland’s and Macclesfield, where his performances quickly drew attention.

While at Rylands, he quickly became one of the most talked-about young players outside the EFL.

In the 2021/22 season, Drummond was a key figure for the Northern Premier League side, scoring 18 goals in all competitions, helping Rylands win the league as Champions.
He hit standout form at Macclesfield in the 2023/24 season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions, helped him earn his move to Chesterfield in the National League.

At the Spireites, Drummond made 19 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign. Despite limited game time in the latter stages, his ability to impact games from wide areas remained evident, and he continued to showcase the attributes that make him a constant threat to opposition defences.

Following the conclusion of his contract at Chesterfield, Drummond now takes the next step in his career by joining Oldham Athletic ahead of the 2025/26 season.

His arrival adds further attacking depth to Micky Mellon’s squad, as Latics prepare for a competitive campaign back in the EFL.

Speaking after finalising his move to Boundary Park, Drummond said:
“I’m buzzing to be here. Oldham’s a massive club with big ambitions, and I’m excited to be part of that.

"As soon as I spoke to the manager and heard about the plans for the season ahead, it felt like the right place for me.

"I loved my time here so when the opportunity came around to join again, it was an easy decision for me.

"I want to show what I can do and help this team push on in League Two.”

Comfortable on either wing or in a more central attacking role, Kane offers versatility and creativity in the final third. His hunger to prove himself in the EFL aligns with the club’s ambitions to build on last season and challenge strongly in the new campaign.

Manager Micky Mellon shared his thoughts on the new addition:
“Kane is a young player with real talent and potential. He’s quick, direct, and gives us something different in the wide areas.

“He’s a player I admire a lot, and I believe we can get the best out of him, he’s got a lot of raw potential.

"We’ve kept an eye on him for a while and believe he can grow with us. He’s hungry to kick on at this level, and show what he’s about and we’re delighted to bring him in as part of our plans moving forward.”

Kane will link up with his new teammates for the start of pre-season training later this month as the build-up to 2025/26 continues.

Welcome back to Latics, Kane!
