Oldham Athletic are delighted to confirm that Oli Hammond, Joe Garner, and Will Sutton have all signed new deals with the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Midfielder Oli Hammond, 22, has agreed to sign a new two-year deal at Boundary Park following a campaign in which he made 14 appearances in all competitions, including eight outings in the National League.

Hammond initially joined Latics from Nottingham Forest in January 2024 after coming through Forest’s academy. He previously spent time on loan at Cheltenham Town in League One, where he made 20 league appearances.

A composed and energetic midfielder, Hammond has also represented Wales at U21 level, earning 13 caps and scoring twice.

Experienced forward Joe Garner has also put pen to paper on a new six-month deal. The 37-year-old striker joined Oldham in January 2024 and made 18 appearances last season, scoring crucial goals to help Latics secure promotion.

Over a long career, Garner has amassed more than 500 senior appearances and scored over 130 goals, with spells at clubs including Preston North End where he netted 49 goals in 118 league appearances, as well as Wigan Athletic, Ipswich Town, and Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, academy graduate Will Sutton has committed his future to the club for another two years.

The 22-year-old centre-back featured 27 times in all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Sutton came through Oldham’s youth system and has made over 50 first-team appearances for the club since debuting in 2021.

He also spent time on loan at Witton Albion and Farsley Celtic to aid his development, before establishing himself as a reliable option at the back for Latics.

Speaking about the trio of signings, manager Micky Mellon said: “We’re really pleased to have Oli, Joe, and Will all signed up for next season.

"Each of them brings something important to the squad, Oli with his energy and potential, Joe with his experience and leadership, and Will with his strength and commitment.

"They’ve all played a big part in getting us back to League Two, and we’re looking forward to seeing them help drive us forward again next season.”

Welcome back, lads!
