McMahon-Brown Signs Professional Contract
First Team
21 November 25
Oldham Athletic are delighted to announce that Youth Team player Frankie McMahon-Brown has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Despite only arriving just over a month ago, the 18-year-old has made an immediate impact.
After stepping into the Youth Team, he helped spark an upturn in form, winning on his debut against Lincoln City and contributing as the lads began climbing the table.
Frankie has quickly caught the eye of the First Team staff, who have been instantly impressed by his attitude and quality.
He has trained regularly with the senior squad since walking through the door and has not looked out of place.
His footballing journey began at Blackburn Rovers before spending six years with Manchester City. He later joined Burnley, working under a familair face to Latics fans, Tony Philliskirk, the father of Latics Youth Team Manager Danny Philliskirk, a connection that helped facilitate his opportunity at Boundary Park.
Frankie also played alongside Michael Mellon during his time at Burnley, another familiar face within the club.
Frankie’s progression highlights the clear pathway available at the club, with opportunities for young players to impress through regular involvement in competitions such as the VERTU Trophy.
David Amos has already earned a scholarship this season, and Frankie becomes the latest young prospect to sign professional terms.
On signing, Frankie said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be here.
"Signing my first professional contract is a dream come true and a huge moment for me.
"The opportunity to train and play with the First Team is something I’ve been working towards for years, and I can’t wait to show what I can do on the pitch.
"The staff, especially Micky, have been brilliant with me from day one, helping me settle in and push myself every session.
“Danny and the Youth team coaches have been fantastic too, offering advice and guidance since I arrived.
"I feel ready for this next step in my career, and I’m determined to make the most of every opportunity here at Oldham.”
Manager Micky Mellon added: “Huge congratulations to Frankie.
"He’s come in, worked hard every day, and shown exactly why he deserves this professional contract.
"He’s got the attitude, the ability, and the drive to succeed at this level, and we’re excited to see how he develops in the First Team environment.
"It’s a proud moment for him and for the club.”
Huge congratulations, Frankie!
