Sponsored Penalty Shootout!
Community
29 October 25
Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT) are launching our brand-new fundraising initiative to help local schools across the borough of Oldham.
The OACT Sponsored Penalty Shootout will be launching from today with an opportunity for schools to raise funds for activities/equipment that can benefit the children across the school by using the power of Oldham Athletic and creating a fun and engaging opportunity that all children can access. We have already hosted two sponsored penalty shootout fundraisers to pilot the scheme before official launch!
At these pilot events, with two of our partner schools we helped fundraise over £5700 across both sponsored penalty shootouts with the schools using the money to help with purchasing new sports equipment and new I.C.T equipment that the children can benefit from in lessons.
🗣️ “We have raised over £3000 and the kids have had an absolute blast!” 💥

Daniel Heath, OACT School Engagement Manager, commented: "We are really excited to launch the OACT Sponsored Penalty Shootout and really look forward to the benefits this can bring to not only the schools but most importantly the children across the borough. We are aware of the ever-rising costs and budgetary issues schools are facing in the current climate and hope this new initiative can help schools to find the funds available and use this in ways that can benefit the children. The feedback has been incredibly positive, and we aim to make a huge impact across the community and our school's program".
The new initiative forms part of OACT’s broader schools programme, an ever-expanding project that continues to positively impact young people throughout Oldham and offering schools a variety of activities that they can benefit from with examples such as regular PE-based delivery as well as special initiatives such as match ticket offers and community events. The success of these programmes would not be possible without the support of key partners. OACT extends its thanks to Ultimate Products, the sponsor of the school programme, for their vital support over the past 12 months.
Amy Wainwright, Headteacher at St Annes Greenacres, the first school to be a part of the new initiative has commented: "The children had an absolutly amazing day, we ran a whole Oldham Atheltic and football themed day, with all staff dressed as referees! We managed to raise over £3000 for our school which is a realy incredible amount and shows what we can achieve when we all work together! We would reccoemend this fundraiser to any school looking to have a fun day as well as raise abit of money to benefit the pupils'
Michala Uttley, Headteacher of Christ Church C.E, who have also took part in this new initiative quoted "We had the most amazing morning hosting a sponsored penalty shootout at our school. We might be the smallest school in Oldham, but we are by far the mightiest! We raised £1,252 across our school which is an incredible amount!"
