Sheepfoot Lane Closure & Parking
Club News
27 January 26
Supporters are advised that major sewage works are due to begin adjacent to Boundary Park, which will affect access and parking in the surrounding area.
The information below outlines how the works will impact Sheepfoot Lane, as well as matchday and weekday parking arrangements.
Road closure
United Utilities will shortly begin extensive work to expand the local sewage system, resulting in the closure of most of Sheepfoot Lane between Boundary Park and Oldham Road.
The closure will come into effect from Monday 9 February and is expected to remain in place until Friday 30 October. Diversions will be clearly signposted and supporters are advised to allow extra time when travelling to and from Boundary Park, particularly on matchdays.
Phase One of the works will mean Sheepfoot Lane is closed from Furtherwood Road as far as Cumberland Drive up to 6 May. After this, the closure will be extended to Plumpton Close for the remainder of the works.
During the road closure, vehicle access to Boundary Park will be maintained via Broadway and Hilbre Avenue, as well as via Chadderton Way and Westhulme Way / Avenue.
Pedestrian access along Sheepfoot Lane will be available throughout the road closure.
Matchday parking
Due to the works, the rear section of the Sheepfoot Lane car park will used solely by United Utilities from Wednesday 28 January.
As a result, revised parking arrangements will apply from the home fixture against Cambridge United on Saturday 31 January.
On matchdays, the Joe Royle Stand and Sheepfoot Lane car parks will be available to permit holders only. There will be no pay-on-the-day parking or pre-booking options at these locations.
Pay-on-the-day and pre-booked parking will be available at the Royal Oldham NHS Hospital car park, accessed via Westhulme Avenue behind B&Q. This car park will be signposted and is a short walk from Boundary Park.
Supporters can pre-book on the Royal Oldham NHS Hospital car park here.
Once again, supporters are advised to allow extra time when travelling to and from these sites due to the diversions and increased traffic using the surrounding roads.
Weekday parking
On non-matchdays, a limited amount of parking will be available in the front section of the Sheepfoot Lane car park.
Once this area is full, parking will available on the Joe Royle Stand car park only.
Parking arrangements for NHS staff who currently hold a permit for the Sheepfoot Lane car park will be communicated directly through Royal Oldham Hospital.
