It was pure ability - Latics' manager

Paul Dickov saluted Jose Baxter whose wonder goal sealed Latics' npower League One win against Leyton Orient.

Baxter struck in the 83rd minute displaying a delightful turn before curling an effort into the top corner of the net.

"It was pure ability. You cannot teach anybody that," enthused Latics' manager.

Latics' manager also spoke of his determination to keep the former Everton player, who is pictured celebrating his goal with Matt Derbyshire, at Boundary Park.

Baxter, who has a short-term contract until January, has already scored three goals and has a number of reported admirers.

Dickov said: "Jose is happy here and loves the lads.

"He loves playing here and the fans have taken to him. We will do everything we can to keep him because he is top class."

Dickov added that people talk about Baxter's ability but perhaps think he is not able to do the "dirty side."

He pointed out that is not the case as underlined when he won a 50/50 tackle in the move which brought about his goal.
