Manager gives diet and lifestyle advice
David Mellor can become a key player for Latics according to Lee Johnson, providing he can get his life right off the pitch.Latics' manager has revealed he has been to the home of the midfield man (pictured) to help educate him in terms of diet and lifestyle.
Johnson said: "When I came in, I saw straightaway he was below par. He has reacted well and lost a lot of weight.
"I have been round to his house to see him and his girlfriend, who is pregnant, and it is important he steps up and takes care of that family.
"It is a case of educating him what he needs to eat. He has had a food intolerance test to see if there are any foods he is allergic to.
"It is all down to him and all I can do it guide him."
Johnson added that he has been impressed with the ability of Mellor, who has lost more than six kilos, on the pitch.
He said: "There is no doubt he is a good player.
"If we can get him in a physical state to play 46 games at the tempo I want for 90 minutes, he can be a big asset for us."
