Obita's dream debut

25 February 2013

Jordan's FA Cup bow against Everton

Jordan Obita admitted he will never forget his debut in the FA Cup with Budweiser.

The 19-year-old on-loan winger's first-ever appearance in the competition came for Latics in the fifth round against Everton.

He explained: "It was fantastic that my first game in the FA Cup was against a Premier League club as was the fact I scored and we earned a replay.

"It was incredible to score and it was the biggest goal of my career and certainly the most important one so far."

Obita (pictured in action against Everton) added that it was great to play against a side packed with international players.

"As a player, you want to play against the best. I thought every one of our players did well against Premier League footballers," he said.

Obita is looking forward to returning to Goodison Park.

He continued: "The last time was in a reserve-team match for Reading, but tomorrow will be far different with a big crowd to cheer us on. Hopefully our fans can help us win the game.

"It is a nice stadium and the pitch is amazing."

Obita has been staggered by the level of support with over 3,600 tickets sold for tomorrow's cup tie.

He continued: "I cannot see any other League One team taking so many fans to a midweek away game.

"It shows how great our fans are. They want to be at Everton to try and help us win the game."

Obita is loving his loan spell with Latics saying it has given him the opportunity to play games which he needs at this stage of his career.
