Sidney Schmeltz signs
Latics have signed Dutch midfield man Sidney Schmeltz on a two-year deal subject to international clearance being obtained.The 24-year-old has played professional football in Holland for Willem II, Almere City, Sparta Rotterdam and SC Veendam for whom he made 15 appearances in 2012/13 scoring three goals.
Schmeltz became a free agent in March when Veendam filed for bankruptcy.
Manager Lee Johnson, who is pictured with Schmeltz, is delighted with his latest capture.
He said: "Sidney is the perfect character and just the sort of player we are after.
"He is quick, exciting, skilful and hungry to learn the English game.
"It is our job as coaches to teach him that."
