Murray praises spirit
Paul Murray was delighted with the spirit shown by Latics’ reserves who twice battle from behind to snatch a 3-2 victory at Morecambe in Central League, West Division.
But Latics’ temporary reserve-team manager had a warning for his young players telling them they cannot continue conceding soft goals.
"I was pleased for the lads and, even during our bad spells in the match, I couldn’t fault their effort."
Murray added he asked for more quality at half time, and was pleased how Jack Poxon and Carl Winchester got to grips in midfield and left back David Mellor with dangerous winger Joe Mwasile.
And he was delighted with Cristian Montano who scored a spectacular winner from 30 yards saying he possesses great skill in his locker.
"There were some good performances, but there is still improvement to be made," he said.
Daniel Taylor scored Latics' first two goals with Montano hitting a stunning winner 16 minutes from time.
