Latics a hit at New Bridge

11 October 2013

School visit a success

Children at New Bridge School were treated to a surprise visit by Latics' players.

The entire first-team squad spent the afternoon at the Hollinwood campus.

The players also found themselves taking part in lessons and interacting with the youngsters.

Jonson Clarke-Harris even had an impromptu game of football to the delight of youngsters.

It was a visit special for player David Mellor and Anthony Gray, a member of the medical staff, as they are the Community Trust's two ambassadors for equality.

The visit was organised by Oldham Athletic Community Trust as part of its work in local schools.

A couple of players paid a visit last season and it was such a huge success it was decided that the whole squad would return as links have strengthened with New Bridge School.

Also attending as an observer was Dennis Leman from the Professional Footballers' Association.

The PFA help fund club's community programmes and the former Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday player attended in his position as their Community Liaison Executive.
