As a club, we’d like to say a big thank you to physio Mick Rathbone as he leaves Latics this week.
Mick, who is, of course, affectionately known as Baz, has made a huge impact during his time at Boundary Park since joining in October 2022.
The legendary physio has worked part-time since initially arriving on a short-term basis before his stay was extended, covering another staff member on maternity leave.
Baz has worked with the squad on weekdays, his work focusing mainly on the recovery of injured players and helping their progress back to full fitness.
His experience has been invaluable in the management of the longer-term injuries within the squad over the last 15 months.
The 65-year-old has spent time working at a number of different clubs over recent years and we have all loved having him around Boundary Park and our training facilities.
His humour, positive outlook and dedication to fitness have been a real inspiration to everyone.
We’d like to wish Baz the best of luck as he moves onto his next role. He’ll be missed and we hope to see him back at Boundary Park again soon.
